Salutations from Alan & Jeanne aboard SIGMACHI at Nabbs Creek Marina  (Near the mouth of the Patapsico River....northern Chesapeake Bay Country!). We have been at our marina near Baltimore for a week now after a wonderful extended voyage to Crisfield for the annual Tawes Crab Feast and an "off of the beaten track" cruise up the Pocomoke River to Pocomoke City, for a night, and then to Snow Hill, Maryland.  All of those locations are located near the southern terminus of Maryland's Eastern Shore. The portion of the Pocomoke River  from Pocomoke City to  Snow Hill saw Capt. Paul Daisey and two of his grand sons, Gavin and Cash, accompany us for that 12 mile stretch. The two youngsters fished the whole was.  When they ran out of bait..."Uncle Alan" provided cut up hot dogs.  Gavin caught his first Cat Fish using hot dog! The prospect of foul weather cut our expedition agenda short; Starting at Crisfield's magnificent Somers Cove Marina...two long days of cr...

[M/V SIGMACHI: 40ft Pacemaker Flush Deck Flying Bridge M/Y White w/blue Bimini Top Two people and one cat on Board] SORRY FOR the delay in closing the Friday 10.22.22 Float Plan...about 8 hrs at the helm...made dinner and watched TV and fell asleep. Left Lake Cove in the Honga River and had a little "chop on the water for about 3 hrs. Later water was smooth.  This was contrary to previous forecasts which caused us to cut our voyage agenda.  Just before nightfall we anchored in the protected waters of Cox Creek on the East Side of Kent Island (Eastern Bay Side). We covered 66.5 miles averaging 7.5 mph.  The previously designated anchorage on the SE corner of Kent Island was aborted because of a wind shift from the E.   Cox Creek is deep, long and can support a fleet of anchored vessels!  We anchored in 8 ft. using 60 ft of chain and a 55# Mantus anchor.  Little wind at all. On Saturday 10.23.2021 SIGMACHI will hoist anchor and upon exiting Cox Creek into Eastern Bay turn North int...

View from the Crew: SIGMACHI has stayed "Put" all day and for a 2nd night on Madision Bay. Day 2 of SIGMACHI 's Fall Cruise

Jeanne and I are on a 3 week cruise of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.   We are presently in Madison Bay off of the Little Choptank River...not very far from the mouth of Slaughter Creek and very near to Poverty Point Farm.  Many duck/goose hunting safaris were launched from PPF by Betty G. Fisher back during the 1960s & 70s .  I should know; I was there many times!  Haven't been in this "neighborhood" for about 50 years! Madison Bay was selected as an anchoring ground yesterday after a phenomenally beautiful 59 mile run from Nabbs Creek.   The forecast for today was selected as a safe harbor from all winds except those from the north.  This proved correct; all day a steady wind was from the east at 14 mph.  There was no notable landing spot in Madison Bay and we didn't care!  SIGMACHI is completely well stocked with provisions! Saturday we rested and did some boat work, some business work and yes...naps!/ We stayed securely anchored here for two nights in about 7f...

VIEWS FROM THE CREW: Fall Cruise on SIGMACHI... Alan & Jeanne Cecil: Day# 1.....

Land of my paternal ancestors,...Dorchester County, Little Choptank River, Church Creek and James Island. Amazingly clear Autumn windless, warm and clear day was what the crew of SIGMACHI experienced on our 1st day of Fall cruising the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland .  We didn't get away from the slip at Nabbs Creek in northeastern Anne Arundel County  until almost 12 Noon on Friday Oct 8th, 2021 mostly  because my " Co- Captain Jeanne" was tied up with her real-estate business in Western Baltimore County Maryland! Heh, Jeanne's business keeps those DD Johnson & Towers 6 -71 twin diesels in the bilge of SIGMACHI purring... In a fuel conservation move I piloted SIGMACHI at 1,100 RPM  for the entire day from the time SIGMACHI cleared the Stoney Creek Draw Bridge with the blessing of the Draw Bridge Operator wishing us a good trip! We shall see what we shall see on the fuel burn rate when we fill up at Somers Cove Marina, our principle destination, fot three or four...

Greetings from Alan aboard SIGMACHI at Nabbs Creek Marinia near the mouth of the Patapsico River in  Chesapeake Bay Country! Sept 29 was a day of memories!  It was both my 75th birthday and our 4th  anniversary of Jeanne & my public wedding ceremony. (We legally were married on the 28th in the Anne Arundel County Court House Chapel.) The third memorial event was a visit to my neurosurgeon,  Dr. Charles Sansur, at the Univ of Maryland Medical Center.    I slipped on the ice last Feb or March attempting to put bird seed in our bird feeder.  My back has been agitating me ever since..."No good deed goes unpunished!" We were supposed to leave for a month cruise yesterday (Friday) but it will be Monday now. Jeanne has a bunch of real estate paper work to do... I'm at the boat getting ready to cast off on Monday with Jeanne for Crisfield, MD for the J. Millard Tawes Memorial Crab Feast on the 13th of Oct.  That should take about three days to get there from our slip near Bal...

From Alan & the Crew of SIGMACHI...In Honor of HRM Phillip....SALUTE!
