Saturday night July 21st we are aboard Sigmachi in Deltaville tied in our slip.  Weather report for whole week looks like thunder storms, wind and rain.  If it "lifts" we are supposed to go to a MTOA rendezvous ar the Indian Creek Country Club for 3 or 4 days.

If by miracle there is fair weather Sunday we'd like to go around the bend of Jackson Creek to take on about 300 gal of propulsion nurturing diesel for the "hardly broken in" 6-71N twin Detroit Diesels.

After the prospective fueling and if the broad navigatable creek is smooth..both co-captains will practice maneuvering and using the twin "screws" to turn the boat without using the steering wheel.

It has been years for me and I'm not sure if Jeanne has ever had the opportunity.  Let me share this...as a former equestrian barrel racer she has no compunction nor lack of ability in accurately backing a pickup and trailer!  I marvel at her talents, temperament, convictions and abilities both in her business acumen and of couse... embracing the motor cruising and sailing adventures we have indulged ourselves with since August 23rd 2017! Hot darn!

SIGMACHI, ah... we are interrupting the refitting schedule by embarking on this short voyage to ICYCC...however the reason for having this grand old lady is to cruise the Chesapeake Bay, Rivers, and the "Albermarle Sound Loop" as a prelude toward grander things to come....the AGLCA and RMHYC burgees are proudly aboard along with the MTOA pennant.  And, in case you, our readers, are wondering about our wandering... YES, WE ARE BOTH COMMITTED TO THE CHALLENGES AND SERENDIPITOUS ADVENTURES THAT WE WILL HAVE!!

OK, it is almost 11:30 pm...the wind has changed and we are at a quay without any pilings to tie our port lines.  So, our very large "ball fenders" have been deployed (even though they are only half inflated 'cause they've been stored)...if there is someone in the boat yard tomorrow (Sunday) or for sure Monday I'm sure the accommodating crew at Deltaville Boat Yard will give us a couple of blasts of compressed air to the "ball fenders" to give them their best full protection!

Greetings All,  Yes it is time for  a comprehensive summary since our last written post and amplification of our posted video!  Jeanne and I arrived home last Sunday night (July 29th) from a week on SIGMACHI in Deltaville, VA.  Yes, we were to take SIGMACHI on a maiden voyage of about 20 miles  to a Marine Trawler Owners Assn (MTOA) Rendezvous in Kilmarnock at the Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club....but severe winds and monsoon like rains early in the week kept us at or away from the dock.  Away from the dock?  Yep, so far away on the leeward side of the dock that there was a 4 foot gap between SIGMACHI and the wooden dock planks.  Such was the velocity of the wind that the lines on the starboard side of the boat (two forward and two aft, two spring lines, and two breast lines) left permanent line indentations in each of their respective wooden pilings. SIGMACHI...Views from the Crew...Tropical Storm/Hurricane Preparation

Good Morning All SIGMACHI  is at Atlantic Yacht Basin, in Chesapeake, VA . The boat is hauled for fixing a trim tab  and rudder post repairs and some other things.  This is a great place to be with the threat of Isaisa scheduled to come this way Tuesday morning. Monday Jeanne, Molly (our boat cat) and I moved to the Red Roof Inn in Chesapeake for the next three nights because SIGMACHI 's air conditioner does not operate while the boat is out of the water.  We also chose a room on the second floor.. as  the tropical storm's tidal surge and rains might cause flooding.  Jeanne is so wise! This "winter cruise" on SIGMACHI will have lasted 2 weeks short of 8 months....didn't have any destination other than Florida.  Now, for the first time we have a schedule to keep....Both Jeanne and I have medical appointments commencing August 11th. View from the Crew: SIGMACHI has stayed "Put" all day and for a 2nd night on Madision Bay. Day 2 of SIGMACHI 's Fall Cruise

Jeanne and I are on a 3 week cruise of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.   We are presently in Madison Bay off of the Little Choptank River...not very far from the mouth of Slaughter Creek and very near to Poverty Point Farm.  Many duck/goose hunting safaris were launched from PPF by Betty G. Fisher back during the 1960s & 70s .  I should know; I was there many times!  Haven't been in this "neighborhood" for about 50 years! Madison Bay was selected as an anchoring ground yesterday after a phenomenally beautiful 59 mile run from Nabbs Creek.   The forecast for today was selected as a safe harbor from all winds except those from the north.  This proved correct; all day a steady wind was from the east at 14 mph.  There was no notable landing spot in Madison Bay and we didn't care!  SIGMACHI is completely well stocked with provisions! Saturday we rested and did some boat work, some business work and yes...naps!/ We stayed securely anchored here for two nights in about 7f...
