Greetings from Olverson's Lodge Creek Marina near the mouth of the Potomac River...Callao, Virginia!

Thank you Waterway Guide Publishers!

It has been a while since I've made an entry in my journal of SIGMACHI.  Briefly,  I had a bout with pneumonia and a flare up with a bad back that the excellent doctors at Kaiser Permanente South Baltimore County Medical Center were called upon to mend right after Jeanne and I were aboard  SIGMACHI for the first time for an extended period of time at the fantastic Deltaville, Va. Boat Yard.
Finally, I've seen something that all of the monsoon rains in the Middle and Northern Necks of Virginia have brought other than delays in getting recreational vessels commissioned from boat yards everywhere in the region;  Jeanne and I are participating in a MTOA ( Marine Trawler Owners Association) mini Rendezvous at a beautiful 200 slip marina and recreational area surrounded by verdant and meticulously tended green grass.

Though I'd met Fred and Cas Olverson at the Southern Chesapeake Bay MTOA Christmas luncheon last December at the York River Oyster Company...neither Jeanne nor I ever had the opportunity to see their Lodge Creek Marina complex.

Thank you Cas and Fred for hosting the joint Northern & Southern Chesapeake Bay MTOA  "cruise in / drive in" 3 day rendezvous  that for us and some other "first timers" was a truly serendipitous discovery!

Wow!

Not only the marina grounds and camping facilities green...the entire area is green at this time of year in this particular rural heartland with abundant growing corn, hay, and other crops.  The only intrusions of large quantities of gold or slightly brown are fields of mature grain that are being harvested daily in this area of Virginia...when the cessation of rain allows!

In this entire area individual pride is emblematic of the traditional American Values that area native sons Washington, Madison and Lee imbued in the constitutional republic that is the United States of America!

That patriotism still continues to be a trait and obligation of families and native sons and daughters reared in this basically rural, farming, boating, commercial and recreational fisheries area of the Northeastern Virginia's Chesapeake Bay region.

Recently the premier boating publication, Waterway Guide, in their online presence, carried a story about a young patriot from Deltaville, Virginia who is now serving in the US Navy aboard the oldest still commissioned warship in the world...the USS Constitution!

Salute!
