18.07.21. Getting Ready for Sigmachi's First Cruise of 2018
Good Saturday morning from our "land home" in Randallstown, Md!
Today we travel to Deltaville, Va. and SIGMACHI. Tomorrow, if the weather cooperates, we are "practicing " maneuvers in Jackson Creek and docking...at our home port, Deltaville Marina. Though there are some more things to do on the classic Pacemaker flush deck fly bridge 40..like new air conditioners and generator work...Deltaville Boat Yard's Keith Ruse has pronounced her "good to go"...for the short run of about 18 miles northward toward Kilmarnock.
On Monday, we anticipate rounding Sting Ray Point and crossing the mouth of the Rappahannock River and veering NW into Fleet's Bay and then entering Indian Creek ...one of 4 beautiful tidal navigatable arteries that pierce into the Lancaster County, Virginia heartland from Fleet's Bay.
Our destination, Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club, for the occasion of the Virginia Rendezvous of the Marine Trawler Owners' Association.
Weather permitting, Jeanne and I are taking our first Summer cruise on SIGMACHI to the MTOA [our cruising club on the Chesapeake Bay] event. Mike Byrne, who is a member of both clubs and a coordinator for the rendezvous, has graciously assured me that he or another ICYCC member will be at the club's docks to help us "land!"
The camaraderie of fellow cruising boaters is a hallmark of the MTOA and I know from previous visits that hospitality of the Indian Creek members is nonpareil!
It's been quite a "life's journey for me to reach this point of achieving two grand Bucket List plateaus in my life, both within the past year: a loving and energetic wife who is my "co-captain in living life" and a classic cruising yacht...my SIGMACHI!
Stay tuned for more later about the rendezvous and the trip back to Deltaville Marina.
Tight Lines!
